THUNDER START BOTHWELL SERIES SPLIT 1 &1
The Zurich Midgets started their next series in their playdowns vs. Bothwell on Thurday night. Due to bad weather Game 1 that was suppose to be played in Zurich on Wed. night had to cancelled which sent the boys to Bothwell for Game 1.  2 Goals a piece for both Brett LaPorte and Colin Gingerich along with multiple assists by Nick LaPorte & Drew Wood plus adding each an assist of their own by Kris Ducharme, Matt Webster and Nick Masse. They managed to Win Game 1 with a close nail biting finish of 4 - 3.

Game 2 brought the team back here to Zurich Sunday afternoon, They had a shakey start having difficulty getting the puck out of the defensive zone, however at 11:44 of the first period Zurich scored their first goal of the game from a point shot by Greg Cooper off a nice pass back from Kurtis Denomme.  Unfortunately it didn't take Bothwell long to tie things up at one and then with the momentum on their side they scored another quick goal only 8 seconds later.  Thunders Captain LaPorte answered back with a nice goal at 11:08, you certainly would not have wanted to miss that 1 minute from 12:00 to 11:00 or you would have missed 4 goals. It was beginnning to look like it was going to be a very high scoring game? Bothwell finished off the 1st period with another 2 goals to end the period with a 4-2 lead. Second period had Zurich playing catch up and at 13:33 off some good passing by Jordan Brand and Colton Becker, Gingerich put No#3 in for Zurich to bring them within one. But off a quick break Bothwell's #7 gave them another 2 goal lead, not for long though Brand put one past the Bothwell goalie at 9:26 assisted by Gingerich. With lots of time left in the game Zurich came close many times but with only a few seconds left in the second Bothwell's #7 ( his third goal of the game) again managed to get the best of the Zurich Defence to end the second with a 6-4 lead.  The third was a tough battle for both teams and with only two power play opportunities throughout the whole game there wasn't much chance to get ahead on one another. Zurich pulled their goalie with 1:39 left in the game and had good puck control but just didn't have enough time left in the game.  Game 3 will again be here in Zurich on Wed. night @8:30pm, Game 4 moves back south to Bothwell on Thursday night again @8:30pm. Hope to see you there!  GO  THUNDER GO
