HOCKEY NIGHT IN ZURICH
THE THUNDER HOST THE MUSTANGS IN GAME 2 OF THE OMHA FINALS .Great turn out of fans and the Zurich Midgets did not dissapoint.  The Zurich Thunder had a little something to prove to this speedy Manvers Team after a tough 3-1 lose last Sunday. Action packed 1 st period and Zurich was having trouble getting the puck out of their own end if not for the excellent goal tendening by Josh Groot to keep the Thunder in this game early on. Finally at 6:30 Jordan Brand forced the puck up to the blueline and Greg Cooper took it deep into the offensive end with a quick pass out to the point Josh King sent a nice wrist shot through traffic to the back of the net to give Zurich a 1 -0 lead and give himself his first goal of this season.

Manvers came back quick and tied the game up at 3:35 but Captain Nick LaPorte answered back by giving the Thunder the go ahead goal at 3:26 unassisted.  Second period saw another Mustang goal but Jordan Brand  put in a nice back hand past the Mustangs goalie at 7:19 also unassisted and short handed which seemed to be a big turning point in the game for Zurich.  They finished off the second period holding onto the 1 goal lead going into the intermission 3-2. I wanted to mention in the last game summary that it is good to see Josh King and Kyle Rykman a  couple of our injured players back on the ice again.
The third period was all Thunder and they showed Manvers why they are the defending OMHA Champions. Forward Colton Becker showing great puck control and patience putting in two nice back to back goals for Zurich assisted by LaPorte, Brand and (AP) Mitch Dietrich. ( Thank you to the Bantams for letting Mitch come out and help us out tonight). Brand added his second of the game at 4:43 assisted by Dietrich and LaPorte giving Zurich a nice cushion 6-2 , but they weren't finished yet LaPorte added lucky #7 again assisted by Cooper and King.  Game Over !
7-2 Final , looking forward to next Sat. afternoon again same place however game time is scheduled for 4:00pm. Series is split at 1 game a piece which forces a Game 4 which will be in Manvers on Sunday Mar.20th @5pm .
