Midget Thunder Edge Sailors 5-4
In a fairly rough and sticky game with over 45 combined penalty minutes the Zurich Midget Thunder team held on for 5-4 win over the Goderich Sailors in their first action of the season. Newcomer Avery Timmermans was impressive in his debut netting a goal and an assist as well as picking up a Gordie Howe hat trick, which unfortunately costs him 2 League games. Wade Coombs picked up his first goal in his first game since switching positions from a goaltender to forward this season. Other goal scorers were by hard hitting power forward Joe Lynn, Travis Cressman and John Cooke. Rounding out the assists was Joe Mathonia, Jacob LaPorte, Nathan King, Jarett Oke and Jake Earle.
Will Overholt was solid in goal picking up the win in his first start of the season. The boys start their Regular Season schedule Wednesday October 14, 7:30pm at Home vs the Walkerton Capitals.
