Thunder Almost Take Down The Undefeated Blades
The Zurich Thunder Boys Midget team travelled to Teeswater to take on a big and strong South Bruce Blades team that hasn't lost yet this season. It was the Zurich boys best effort of the season, and if not for a couple late game turnovers they would have came away with a win. Marshall Pettapiece scored a beauty one timer on a textbook 3 way passing play from Joe Mathonia and Jacob LaPorte to open the scoring. The boys went up 2-0 on sneaky shot from soft handed forward Wade Coombs on a pass from Elliot Paulger.

The Blades made it 2-1 before Tyler Merner blasted a top corner slap shot from outside the blue line with 20 seconds remaining in the 2nd to put the Thunder up 3-1 heading into the 3rd. Although the entire team battled hard in the final frame the Blades proved to be too much as they battled back to score 3 unanswered goals in the final 7 minutes of the game to take the victory 4-3. Sam Lynn was stellar in between the pipes making several key saves in the tough loss. Zurich heads to Listowel Sunday afternoon for their next action.
