Thunder Come From Behind To Take Game Two 5-4
The boys came out flat in Monkton and found themselves down 3-0 halfway through the game. They battled back to score two before the end of the second on goals from Bryson Volochkov on a pass from Tyler Merner and another by Joe Mathonia from Mitch Finlay and Cody Merner. After a hardcore chat in the 2nd intermission by head coach Pete Overholt the team responded with 2 quick goals in the first minute of the 3rd period to take the lead 4-3. The first by Finlay from Mathonia and the second was a Ty Merner breakaway goal on a sweet flip pass from defenseman Nathan King. The Wildcats knotted the score up at 4 with 7 minutes remaining.
The game looked headed for OT before Ty Merner knocked in a rebound for the game winner on a Nathan King shot from the point. Will Overholt made several key stops to keep the game close and give the boys the chance to battle back. The series heads back to Elma-Logan Thursday night for game three with Zurich up 2-0 in the series.
