Despite being outnumbered nearly 2:1, the Zurich Thunder Novice Rep team won 7-0 yesterday in one of their most exciting games yet! The game was close throughout the first period but a goal by #10 Callum Rankin (assisted by Ashton Willert) near the end of the period raised spirits and eased the worries of the fans, that the team may burn out quickly.
Zurich not only kept up throughout the second period but seemed to gain momentum and scored six more goals in the third, with two hat tricks; one by #19 Brody Gelinas (assists by Ryan Regier, Callum Rankin, and Ashton Willert) and the other by #7, Ryan Regier (assist by Rankin).
Regier said of the seven goals scored, "That was one goal for each of us, even one for the goalie", a position played by Ryan Willert who filled at the last minute. Willert made some great saves and because of the excellent defense of his teammates, ended the game with a shut out.
