Peewee's Headed To 'A' Finals in Zurich Tournament
After a tight 4-3 win over a physical Plattsville team the Zurich Peewee Rep team has advanced to the 'A' Championship in their home tournament. The boys came out a little sluggish and were down 2-1 after the first period, but responded well in the second, scoring one to tie things up after two, then scoring two more in the third for the victory. The TSN turning point in the game was team captain Devon Steckle leveling Plattsville's big hitter with a huge but 'clean' open ice hit, the player was down for several minutes, but was back out on the ice his next shift. Leading the scoring was Tyler Merner with two, Mitch Finlay and John Cooke with the others.
Assists went to Travis Cressman and Jacob LaPorte with two each, Cooke, Finlay and Connor Brand with one each. Assuming the Norwich Knight-Hawks beat Elma-Logan tommorrow morning, then Zurich would face Norwich in the finals, which would be a good test for the boys. The coaching staff was impressed the way the kids battled back and worked hard in the last two periods after being down.
