Peewee's Down Two Games in OMHA Finals
The Zurich Peewee Rep team is now down two games to none in the OMHA finals after today's tough 3-2 loss in overtime to a hard working Manver's team. The Zurich boys finally came to life in the third period and overtime of game two. This level of intensity and passion will be needed if the kids are expecting to mount a comeback in the series. Mitch Finlay closed the gap to 2-1 before then end of the second period assisted by Tyler Merner and Jacob Laporte. Then Finlay scored an unassisted marker with five minutes remaining to force overtime. A couple missed chances and a post early by Zurich in OT made the loss even tougher to swallow. Will Overholt made several exceptional stops in goal including a highlight reel save in OT, throwing his arm behind him to stop a sure open net goal.

Even with the disappointing loss, the attitude in the dressing room was positive heading back to Zurich for game three. Team captain and enforcer Devon Steckle will be back in the line up after serving a two game suspension and assistant captain John Cooke will be back to full time duty.

The 6-1 loss in game one was a tough one to watch as the nerves must have got the best of the kids. The intensity and desire was just not there. The only Zurich goal of the game was roof shot by Finlay on a pass from Merner. Overholt and Wade Coombs shared goaltending duties. The team must be confident, believe in themselves and their ability if they want to comeback and seize the opportunity that sits in front of them. The coaching staff believes they can. Game three will be in Zurich on Saturday March 19 at 2:30 pm.
