Thunder Peewee Girls Begin Season On Winning Note
The Zurich Girls Peewee team started their season off right by taming the South Huron Sabres by a score of 10-8. It was the Sabres who jumped out to early leads, being up 3-0 and 4-2 before the Thunder battled back with 5 goals in the 2nd and 4 in the 3rd to pull off the victory. Leading the offense with hat tricks was Erin Mathers and Cayla Hoffman scoring 3 each, other goal scorers were Samantha Regier, Hailee Masse, Hailee Brown and Sydney Masse.
Leading the way with assists was Ava Overholt and Hailee Brown with 3 each, Miaya Masse, Emma Ducharme, Lindsay Merner, Hailee Masse and Hoffman had 1 each. Rilee Brown picked up the win in between the pipes for the locals playing goal for her very first time. Head coach Pete Overholt was impressed with the play of the girls, but mentioned there is still much work ahead and lots of room for improvement. The team's next action is Saturday night in Thamesford vs Zorra.
