MIDGET THUNDER MIGHTY
The Midgets have come out flyin after a well deserved Christmas break.  The boys have put two strong victories together to finish our regular season with a very respectable 10-6 record.

We recently travelled to Mitchell and played very well in all the key areas. Our first tally was a nice sharp angle goal by Ben Cooke, it was quickly duplicated by Clare Masse for our second goal.  Both of these were unassisted extra efforts. Nice work boys. Colin Gingerich, Colton Becker, and Jordan Brand rounded out the rest of the scoring for a 7-3 victory.  Brett McAllister had a very strong game in net with many great saves. The defence of Braden Erb, Nick Masse, Michael Beierling and Dylan Steckle played an  exceptionally strong game.

The next evening we travelled to Teeswater for our final game of the regular season to face a much improved Teeswater team.  Our first goal was a nice effort by Jordan Brand with a lot of hardwork  from Kurtis Denomme and Braden Erb picking up the assists.
Teeswater tied it up on a fluky a few minutes later.  The game remained very competive and tied until the three minute mark of the second. The Zurich boys discipline and patience and hard work were remarkable. This is where Teeswater started to accumulate
lots of minor penalties for the remainder of the game. Our second goal was also a nice passing play from Michael Beierling to Nick Masse and buried by Colin Gingerich. Our defence played fantastic for the whole game. Connor Adams was sharp in net and made many great saves, especially for the long stretch where the game remained tied. We had some mental breakdowns and Connor was solid between the pipes.  At the beginning of the third period Colton Becker with lots of hard work, skillfully fed Kurtis Denomme to make it 3-1 for the Thunder. We played an awesome game for all three periods. The coaching staff are really impressed with the whole team and their efforts. Way to go boys.

We also hosted the Parkhill Midget team for an exhibition game this past Monday evening. Not knowing what to expect, it turned out to be an excellent hockey game against a very good team . Parkhill skated and passed very well.  Our netminder Brett McAllister was very busy and played an extremely good game between the pipes. Again our defencemen showed great character and effort in an exciting game. Our first tally went to Brett Laporte who buried this one as soon as it hit the stick. Nice goal Brett. The helpers went to Colton Becker and Tony Mathonia. Our second goal, a blast from the point went to Dylan Steckle with the assist going to Colton Becker. Nice work boys..the whole team is playing well.Extra kudos to Matt McAllister, Ben Cooke and Connar McLean for all there extra effort in the defensive zone.

The rest of the game went back and forth and we did have lots of chances but could not connect. The final score was Parkhill 3, and Zurich 2. The midget boys are playing extremely well and we have just found out our season has been extended with three more regular season games... stay tuned for more on your Midget Thunder.
