THUNDER STRONG IN DRAYTON
For all of the players that made the trip to Drayton, you should be very proud of yourselves. We only had ten skaters and two goalies and it was a barn burner.

We competed very well all game and had a couple  rough minutes at the end of the first period and were quickly trailing 3-0.  Our team battled back hard and Connar McLean stepped out from behind the net and roofed a very nice wrist shot upstairs, with the helpers going to Kurtis Denomme and Colton Becker. Through Colton's, Kurtis' and Brett Laportes continued efforts Colton scored a very nice goal with Brett Laporte notching the assist.  At the intermission we were down 3-2, we regrouped, rested and played an awesome third period with Braden Erb and Colton working hard for our third goal. Drayton popped one more in to win 4-3. We accomplished all of this and never had a penalty all game. Our defence, played stellar and gave all they had and more until the final whistle.  Connor Adams played awesome with some key game saving saves. This group of boys displayed a lot of character  and once again they impressed their coaching staff and I know all the little Thunders would be in awe.

A few days later we hosted Elma Logan and came away with a strong 5-1 victory. We had lots of balanced scoring with Colin Gingerich with two goals and one helper. Jordan Brand with a nice goal assisted by Josh King.  Kurtis Denomme also had a very strong game with two goals and one helper. The defence of Josh King, Nick Masse, Braden Erb,  Michael Beierling, and Dylan Steckle was awesome and continues to impress. Connor Adams had a great game in net and stunned the opposition until 5.22 of the third period. Nice win boys.

The team finished off the week with a nice 8-3 win at home against Ripley. We  started out sluggish, but we started our scoring with a nice end to end rush by Dylan Steckle and he blasted a beautiful slapshot over the goalies shoulder. This was the spark we needed as we had some nice teamwork and passing by everyone. Colin Gingerich, Jordan Brand, Colton Becker and Connar McLean teamed up for three more goals before the intermission to give the Zurich boys a 4-2 lead.  We started the third period strong and a smart play by Clare Masse to drive to the net to grab the rebound and score a nice goal assisted by Colton Becker and Kurtis Denomme. Colton kept the train rolling with a nice goal assisted by Kurtis and Colin.  Through a lot of hard work and backchecking  our last two goals were nice combinations started by Nick Masse with one scored by Colin and the last one by Jordan Brand with one of their players hanging off his back. Last, but not least if not for the great play by Brett McAllister, especially in the first two periods, the team would have been in for a long night.  Special mention again to the defence with nice tape to tape passes and great hard work in our own zone.
