GAME 3 BIG WIN FOR THE THUNDER
Another Sunday afternoon travelling North for the Zurich Midgets with only one thing on their mind winning Game 3 and coming Home for Wed. night with a 2 game advantage and winning this Semi final on Home ICE!! I am not sure about anyone other than Heather and I but our stomachs were in knots, it was good to see Drew out on the ice and he made a big difference gaining 2 assists throughout the game. The first period was interesting and both teams scored one goal a piece, Zurich's Brett LaPorte making the most of his spot in front of the net off some great passing by Wood and Cooper.
Due to some lack of disapline on the part of the Normanby team they gave Zurich a couple of 5 on 3 power play opportunities at the start of the second and Kurtis Denomme tipped in goal number 2 for Zurich from a nice point shot by defenceman Kris Ducharme. ( Hope your feeling better soon! ) Although it was a rather rough game the Thunder managed to keep their cool and play a good game. At 3:38 in the second from a long clearing attempt by Cooper, Captain Nick LaPorte picked up the puck at the offensive blueline and put one in the net while sliding across the ice on his __ __ __ ( unable to report the exact details) giving Zurich a 3 - 1 lead going into the 2nd intermission.The Thunder played a good defensive third period and with the awsome goaltending by Groot they managed to hang onto the lead up to the final buzzer.
