THUNDER TAKES GAME 2 WITH A 4-3 WIN
The Zurich Midgets take Game 2 in the OMHA Semi Finals with a score of 4-3.  Monday night the series began vs.Normanby in Ayton, Ont. It was a close game but the Thunder just didn't seem to have the energy to keep up with a bigger Normanby Team and gave up a 3-2 lead in the third and lost Game 1: 5-3. Game 2 was a different story and they were excited getting a chance to play on home ice.

The Thunder came out ready to battle for this win with a much more physical game then in past series so far this season. They started out strong and had great puck control throughout, Colton Becker scored for Zurich at 11:35 unassisted but Normanby managed to even it up at 2:56. The penalty box was busy in the first but everyone seemed to settle down after Zurich scored 2 power play goals to give them a 3-1 advantage going into the second period. Goals by Nick LaPorte assisted by Greg Cooper and our very own goalie, plus one by Colin Gingerich assisted by Kurtis Denomme and Kris Ducharme. Also due to some show stopping goal tendening by vetran goalie Josh Groot the Thunder was looking good.  Both teams got another goal each in the second another for the Thunder by Gingerich with a great feed by Cooper to end the second with a 4-2 lead.  The third was fairly uneventful accept for a goal by Normanby only 50 seconds into the 3rd to bring them within one, but the defence kicked in and never gave them another opportunity to control the puck in their end to end the game  with a 4-3 victory.  Game 3 takes them back to Ayton on Sunday at 4 pm, tell your family and friends it's a great Sunday afternoon drive and lets show Normanby what great supportive fans we have in Zurich. They then return to Zurich for Game 4 again next Wed, Night @ 8:30pm.
